This album contains a live performance from 1976, in which Sadao Watanabe won the Grand Prize at the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival.
The "Sadao Watanabe Recital" held at the Tokyo Postal Savings Hall on October 19, 1976, won the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival Grand Prize in the jazz category. This is the recording of that event.
This is Sadao Watanabe's last album on the East Wind label when he was 43 years old. You can listen to live versions of a number of ambitious songs that freely mix jazz, bossa nova, African music, and more. Don't miss the signature song "Pastoral" and the famous ballad "Old Photograph."
