This work marked the beginning of the folk song crossover series that Hara Nobuo and Yamaya Kiyoshi, a composer and arranger from Sharps & Flats, produced in the 1970s, and is also the debut album of one of Japan's leading shakuhachi players, Mitsuhashi Kifu.
This is one of a triptych including "Shakuhachi: Poems of the Mountain" and "Shakuhachi: Poems of the Village."
