Bill Evans' greatest album, indispensable in jazz historyThis album contains live recordings from the Village Vanguard in 1961. The sad thing was that Scott LaFaro died in an accident 10 days after the recording. After leaving Miles' group in 1958, he recorded this album with his two allies, the best and most powerful performances of Bill Evans, Paul Motian, and Scott LaFaro. LaFaro's last performance was recorded as a memorial album on the sister album "Sunday at the Village Vanguard". The selection of songs on this album is more influenced by Evans. |
